We’re excited to read your projects! At this time, we are interested in voices that are underrepresented in theatre, therefore our priorities for this round are:
Indigenous & Black artists, Artists of colour, Deaf artists, artists with disabilities and queer artists (which includes trans, gender non-conforming and gender non-binary) creating with alternative points of view or processes.
We will be hosting info sessions during the month of October, so please check back in for more information on those!
Before applying online, please have a look at the TPM website so you can get to know the work we do and the artists we support. Check out our mandate, mission and vision as preference will be given to applications that reflect the core beliefs we hold at TPM. When applying, we would love to see your C.V. and a script sample for the project, but we’d also love to know a bit about you and why TPM is the best fit for your project.
Please note, each year we have many more projects submitted then funds to give out. We won’t be able to offer funding to everyone who applies, nor do we ever give full funding of $5000. On average, we recommend 10 – 12 projects maximum.
These grants are to be used as seed-funding for the development process and are not to be misinterpreted as being for commissioning, workshopping or production funds.
Official guidelines and application process on the OAC site here: https://www.arts.on.ca/grants/recommender-grants-for-theatre-creators
We will be accepting applications until November 2, 2020 at 1:00 pm.
PLEASE NOTE: If you’re finding that the OAC online submission system is not responsive to your accessibility needs please feel free to contact Associate Artistic Director, Indrit Kasapi.
Thank you for taking the time to apply!
In the video below, Artistic Director, Marjorie Chan and Associate Artistic Director, Indrit Kasapi with the support of former Digital Content Manager and artist Fatuma Adar, answer questions about Recommender Grants and also grant writing in general. Check it out before applying.
