Thank you to everyone who applied and attended our info sessions for the Ontario Arts Council Recommender Grants!

We are thrilled to be able to support new projects that range in various form. This year’s recipients also represent a wide range of communities: IBPOC, women, D/deaf 2SLGBTQIA+, and disabled folks — who are creating work that TPM is wanting to cultivate and engage with looking ahead.

Our selection team this year comprised of Artistic Director Marjorie Chan, Intern Dramaturg Merlin Simard, Associate Artistic Director Indrit Kasapi and Metcalf Artistic Director Intern Rinchen Dolma. The team is so honoured to have had the opportunity to read through the applications, engage emerging artists and support their creation process during these difficult times.

Recommender grants are a great way for us to meet artists and start a conversation with them as they embark on their TPM would like to thank the OAC for funding these emerging artists in their practice.

The application deadline for the 2020 OAC Recommender Grants has passed. We thank everyone who has submitted!

One-on-One Info Sessions

We hold one-on-one info sessions prior to the grant deadline, for those of you who have questions about the Ontario Arts Council portal (Nova), Applying for Recommender Grants, Theatre Passe Muraille’s priorities, accessibility, or any other question regarding this grant.

In 2019 these sessions were available in English, Tibetan, or French.

Submission Details

Before applying online, please have a look at the TPM website so you can get to know the work we do and the artists we support. Check out our mandate, mission and vision as preference will be given to applications that reflect the core beliefs we hold at TPM.  When applying, we would love to see your C.V. and a script sample for the project, but we’d also love to know a bit about you and why TPM is the best fit for your project.

Please note, each year we have many more projects submitted then funds to give out. We won’t be able to offer funding to everyone who applies, nor do we ever give full funding of $5000. On average, we recommend 10 – 12 projects maximum.

These grants are to be used as seed-funding for the development process and are not to be misinterpreted as being for commissioning, workshopping or production funds.
