What does it mean to be on the Board of Directors at TPM?

As a Board member, you will be responsible for supporting the executive and artistic leadership in an advisory capacity, supporting the board’s fundraising initiatives, providing legal and financial oversight of the organization, engaging with local communities, supporting equity and inclusion in the theatre, and promoting the theatre and enhancing its public standing.

You will also be responsible for attending regularly scheduled board meetings (about 6 per year, which may be held in person at Theatre Passe Muraille’s offices or via Zoom), and to sit on at least one committee according to your interest and skill set. Board members are encouraged to participate in fundraising activities and take an active role in attending, and inviting others to Theatre Passe Muraille’s productions.

Am I a good fit for the role?

Great board members are passionate fans of the theatre, who believe they can contribute their energy into sharing their passion more widely.

Above all, we desire the members of our Board to fully reflect the people who live, work, play and study in our neighborhoods and communities. We welcome applications from individuals who self-identify as Black, persons of colour, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. As well, we are interested in potential members who may live in the immediate neighbourhood of 16 Ryerson Avenue.

At this time, we are also seeking applications from people who may have experience or expertise in the following areas, and would consider such experience an asset:

  • Marketing and Communications
  • Social Services (particularly experience in housing, and harm-reduction)
  • Law
  • Fundraising or Philanthropy
  • Engineering or Architecture
  • Government Relations
  • Strategic Planning
  • Accounting

We would consider any of the above an asset. However, we are always looking for committed and active champions of our theatre and encourage those with experience in other areas to apply as well.

I’m ready. Where do I apply?

Please send your resume with a short cover letter describing why you are interested in joining the Board of Directors of Theatre Passe Muraille to Indrit Kasapi | Interim Managing Director at indritk@passemuraille.on.ca
