“It is so exciting to be able to support such a diversity of work this season featuring emerging creators like playwright/director Emily Paterson, alongside a veteran playwright like Anusree Roy. We continue our tradition of supporting unique creation with the virtuosic artist Leslie Ting as well as the return of the outside of the box PXR Festival. With a tour and #BeyondTO, we round out an invigorating 2025-2026 season that celebrates, provokes and sparks conversations that reflect the complexities of our society.”

“One night. Two pasts. A reckoning long overdue.”

In the stillness of 1950s rural Ontario, Jenny’s quiet evening is shattered by an unexpected visitor — Alice, the woman she thought she’d left in the past. In one tense night the two reminisce, seeking answers from one another about their relationship, their past, and their future. Winner of Outstanding Production at the The Hart House Drama Festival (University of Toronto), BUTCH/FEMME tells a story of love, identity, and the invisible threads that bind us — even when we try to let go.

“Your listening is the transformative act”

What Brings You In is a different kind of concert. Violinist Leslie Ting invites you into an intimate, genre-defying performance exploring parallel relationships to her instrument, therapy, and the audience. She will try to play the perfect concert for you, but knows it’s not possible. What emerges instead is something more honest. In this boundary-blurring experience, your listening is the transformative act.

“A searing tale of a Mother’s devotion, defiance, and survival.”

Arrested for the desperate act of stealing rice to feed her son, Charu, a spirited Kolkatan, soon faces a far greater horror: her child, Krishna, has been trafficked to Delhi. Driven by primal love, she embarks on a gut-wrenching journey through the underbelly of a broken system, where every lead is a gamble and every choice is impossible. Through the Eyes of God is a piercingly emotional and sharply critical journey that asks: How far will a mother go to protect her child?

“Live performance in VR & AR.”

The annual Performance and XR (PXR) Conference brings together over 400 artists, technologists, game creators, and academics to explore the intersection of theatre and immersive digital art forms like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). With keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, the PXR Conference provides a unique opportunity for learning and networking in the field of digital performance. Theatre Passe Muraille is proud to once again partner with Single Thread Theatre to be PXR Conference‘s in-person hub for Toronto!

“This is the story as I must live it”

Developed and premiering in 2023 at Theatre Passe Muraille, As I Must Live It is a funny, endearing, and thought-provoking work from award-winning spoken word artist Luke Reece. Through poetic storytelling touching on everything from antagonistic squirrels to Chris Pratt’s abs, Reece shares his experiences growing up with a mentally-ill father in a mixed-race family. Featuring Reece’s signature deft wordplay, with the direction of internationally acclaimed audience-specific practitioner Daniele Bartolini. As I Must Live It returns to bringing the page to the stage for an intimate and pun-filled event. The production will be touring to Calgary with further stops to be announced soon!

“Beyond the city, beyond the expected!”

The #BeyondTO Series returns for its 4th thrilling edition, promising to take audiences on another journey beyond the traditional confines of Toronto’s arts scene. Full details of this exciting lineup will be announced later in the year. #BeyondTO Series dates are to be announced.

...and more

Continuing the history of works in development at Theatre Passe Muraille, the Buzz In-Development Series will host several artists in various stages of development. This season will include artists doing text-based explorations, translation, and digital explorations in VR and AR.

In addition, our community programming will continue with community meals, panels, and workshops inspired by our season productions, which are free to attend.

TPM continues to support wide-ranging work that addresses current provocations and conversations that are collaborative, community-based, accessible, and innovative. At the heart of how TPM sees its impact ‘beyond the walls,’ the 25.26 includes community engagement and ongoing enhancements to accessibility offerings.
