Theatre Passe Muraille: 2024-2025 Field Placement/Internship Opportunities
Calling all Arts Administration, Marketing, Communications Advertising, Fundraising, and Theatre Production Students!
Theatre Passe Muraille is a renowned Canadian theatre company known for its innovative and daring productions. We’re passionate about fostering a supportive community by nurturing independent artists, celebrating multicultural works, and encouraging collaboration among our staff and performers. Our goal is to ensure diverse voices are heard on our stage.
What We Do
Each year, Theatre Passe Muraille produces or presents approximately 6-8 shows. We also host rentals and festivals throughout the season. Our facilities include a mainstage theatre (seating 185), a newly renovated backspace theatre (seating 55), and a cabaret/bar space (capacity of 100).
Join Our Team!
We’re seeking passionate and detail-oriented individuals to support various aspects of our upcoming 2024-2025 season. Here are the areas where you can make a difference while gaining skills and building your resume:
- Fundraising: Assist the Fundraising Coordinator with data entry for donations, and help plan fundraising events for the year. You may also explore opportunities to identify new sponsorship partners and strengthen relationships with existing donors.
- Marketing: Work alongside the Marketing & Communications Manager to promote Theatre Passe Muraille. This includes social media management, marketing reports, search engine optimization, and other administrative duties related to specific marketing campaigns.
- Community Engagement and Outreach: Assist the Community Engagement Coordinator in planning and executing community events. You’ll also help connect with marginalized communities and grassroots organizations to promote our shows and events. Additionally, you may be tasked with administrative duties related to institutional memory.
- Technical Production: Support the Production and Facilities Manager with administrative tasks and facility-related duties. Responsibilities include reviewing show and event paperwork (lighting plots, system maps), creating and maintaining paperwork for the team, attending production meetings (recording and sharing minutes), and assisting with venue maintenance projects (inventory cataloging, painting touch-ups). This is a great opportunity for current students in technical theatre/production programs to gain valuable hands-on experience and learn from industry professionals in a dynamic environment.
- Other Opportunities: We offer opportunities to shadow and/or assist other TPM staff members based on your interests and our capacity. Be sure to mention your areas of interest in your application!
Work Environment
While our offices are open, staff have the flexibility to work remotely. Selected candidates will choose between working in the office or remotely, checking in with their respective managers weekly to report on progress, communicate, and ask questions. We encourage students to attend the weekly virtual TPM staff meeting if their class schedule allows.
Compensation
The intern positions are open to students registered in educational institutions that require Internships/Field Placement to obtain course credit or will be funded by various funding streams. Students will receive complimentary tickets to all our shows in the 2024-2025 season. We will also endeavor to apply for grants to compensate participating students.
Accessibility
TPM believes in fostering an inclusive, accessible, and equitable environment and we are committed to reflect the diversity of our community and our city. We welcome and encourage submissions from Indigenous, Black and People of Colour, the Deaf and disabled as well as individuals of all genders, cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and abilities.
